A Seat Beside the Silence
LaHave River, Bridgewater, Nova Scotia
A veil of mist rested upon the LaHave River, softening the distant trees and stilling the world. Beyond the weathered dock, a lone sailboat floated quietly, its reflection trembling beneath the pale autumn sky.
An old bench stood waiting, as though inviting someone to pause, breathe, and leave their worries behind.
Watching the boat, I felt a gentle calm settle over me. There was nowhere to go, nothing to chase, and nothing to prove. Just the river, the mist, and the quiet beauty of being present.
Perhaps peace is not always found by moving forward, but by learning to be still.
Sometimes, the soul needs no destination — only a quiet place to rest.
